01

1. Acceptance of terms

These Terms of Use govern your access to and use of Debate. By using the platform, creating an account, joining a debate, watching content, or accessing any feature, you agree to these terms.

If you do not agree to these terms, you may not use the platform.

02

2. The service

Debate provides tools for discovering debate topics, matching with people who hold opposing views, participating in live text, audio, or video debates, receiving AI-assisted scoring, viewing leaderboards, and exploring educational feedback.

We may change, suspend, limit, or discontinue features at any time, including free or paid features.

03

3. Eligibility and accounts

You must be legally able to use the platform and comply with all applicable laws. You are responsible for keeping your account secure and for activity that occurs through your account.

  • Provide accurate information when creating or updating your account.
  • Do not impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation.
  • Do not share access in a way that compromises account security.
  • Notify us if you believe your account has been compromised.
04

4. Debate conduct

The platform exists for disagreement without dehumanization. You are responsible for your words, conduct, media, and participation during debates.

  • Do not harass, threaten, abuse, stalk, dox, or intimidate others.
  • Do not promote violence, terrorism, extremist recruitment, or illegal activity.
  • Do not post hate speech, targeted slurs, sexual exploitation, or graphic abusive content.
  • Do not spam, manipulate rankings, evade moderation, or interfere with the platform.
  • Do not record, redistribute, or misuse another participant’s voice, image, or content unless permitted by law and platform rules.
05

5. User content

You retain ownership of content you submit, including profile text, debate statements, messages, reports, and other materials. You grant us a license to host, process, display, analyze, moderate, and use that content as needed to operate and improve the platform.

You represent that you have the rights needed to submit your content and that your content does not violate law, third-party rights, or these terms.

06

6. AI scoring and summaries

AI-assisted scoring, transcripts, coaching, moderation cues, and summaries are provided for educational and product purposes. They may be incomplete, inaccurate, delayed, biased, or inappropriate in some contexts.

You should not rely on AI outputs as professional, legal, factual, or final determinations. We may adjust scoring systems, ranking rules, and moderation systems at any time.

07

7. Subscriptions and paid features

If paid plans or premium features are offered, prices, features, billing periods, renewal terms, cancellation rules, and refunds will be presented at purchase or in related plan information.

You are responsible for reviewing subscription details before purchasing. Access to paid features may end if payment fails, a subscription expires, or an account violates these terms.

08

8. Prohibited uses

You may not misuse the platform or attempt to harm its operation, users, reputation, data, or security.

  • Reverse engineer, scrape, overload, probe, or interfere with platform systems.
  • Use bots, fake accounts, vote manipulation, ranking manipulation, or automated abuse.
  • Upload malware or attempt unauthorized access to accounts, systems, or data.
  • Use the platform to violate privacy, intellectual property, publicity, or other rights.
  • Circumvent suspensions, bans, rate limits, access controls, or moderation actions.
09

9. Moderation and enforcement

We may review, restrict, remove, or preserve content and accounts where we believe it is necessary to enforce these terms, protect users, comply with law, investigate abuse, or maintain platform integrity.

Enforcement actions may include warnings, reduced visibility, debate removal, score adjustments, account suspension, account termination, or reporting to authorities where appropriate.

10

10. Intellectual property

Debate, including its design, features, software, branding, and platform content, is protected by intellectual property laws. Except for rights expressly granted to you, we reserve all rights in the service.

You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or create derivative works from the platform without permission.

11

11. Disclaimers

The service is provided “as is” and “as available.” We do not promise that the platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or that debate results, scores, summaries, matches, or recommendations will be accurate or suitable for your needs.

12

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, reputation, or opportunities arising from use of the platform.

13

13. Changes to terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the platform after changes become effective means you accept the updated terms.
