Debate is a live debate platform that helps people explore opposing viewpoints through topics, matching, video/audio/text debate experiences, rankings, and AI-assisted scoring. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

By using the platform, you agree that your information may be handled as described here. If you do not agree, you should stop using the service.

2. Information we collect

We may collect information you provide directly, information generated through your use of the service, and technical information from your device or browser.

  • Account information such as name, email address, profile details, username, preferences, and settings.
  • Debate activity such as selected topics, chosen positions, debate format, debate history, rankings, scores, reports, moderation signals, and feedback.
  • User-generated content such as profile text, messages, transcripts, reports, and other content submitted through the platform.
  • Technical data such as device type, browser type, IP address, approximate location, pages viewed, referring pages, session activity, and error logs.
  • Payment-related status information if paid features are offered, such as plan type and subscription status. We do not store full card numbers.

3. Camera, microphone, and debate media

When you join audio or video debates, your browser may request access to your camera and microphone. Access is controlled by your device and browser permissions.

Live media is used to enable the debate experience. We may process related metadata, connection status, moderation reports, transcripts, or scoring signals where needed to operate, improve, and protect the service.

4. How we use information

We use information to provide the service, personalize debate matching, maintain safety, support rankings and scoring, improve product quality, and communicate with users.

  • Operate accounts, profiles, settings, debates, matching, leaderboards, events, and subscriptions.
  • Generate debate summaries, scoring insights, transcripts, moderation cues, and educational feedback.
  • Detect abuse, spam, harassment, threats, platform manipulation, and violations of our rules.
  • Improve reliability, debug issues, measure feature performance, and understand usage trends.
  • Send service-related notices, account updates, policy updates, and optional product communications.

5. AI-assisted features

The platform may use automated systems to help score debates, summarize arguments, detect policy violations, provide coaching, or improve matching. AI outputs may be imperfect and should not be treated as final, legal, professional, or factual determinations.

We may use debate content and related signals to provide these features, maintain safety, and improve the quality of the experience.

6. Sharing information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information when necessary to operate the platform, comply with law, protect users, or work with trusted service providers.

  • With service providers that help with hosting, authentication, analytics, email, payments, storage, security, and support.
  • With other users where information is part of the public or social experience, such as profile details, rankings, debate participation, and public content.
  • With authorities or third parties if required by law, legal process, safety concerns, or to enforce our terms.
  • During a business transaction such as a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets.

We keep information for as long as needed to provide the service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, and enforce agreements. Some information may be retained longer in backup systems, audit logs, safety records, or anonymized analytics.
